Produce Market Report - Manion Foods

The tomato markets have remained fairly stable as the chief U.S. production region transitions to the Southeast and out of Florida. U.S. tomato shipments last week rose 2.6% and were slightly above the same week a year ago. Seasonal charts suggest that modestly lower tomato prices could be forthcoming next month assuming the weather cooperates. Lettuce supplies are improving with shipments climbing 8.6% last week from the week prior and tracking 9.8% above the same week in 2015. Lettuce prices could soften in the near term but seasonal charts indicate that higher lettuce prices are likely later this summer.
