Pork output last week rose 3.5% and was 5.3% better than the same week a year ago. Solid year over year gains in pork production are expected during the next several months which could limit seasonal price increases. China consumers, who account for roughly half of the world pork consumption, continue to face rising pork prices. The Chinese government could take steps to import more pork in the not-so-distant future. The belly markets have struggled during the last several weeks but higher prices could be forthcoming.
