Food distributor serving Virginia and the Iron Range

Mondays and Thursdays on the Range — Virginia, Eveleth, Aurora, Biwabik, Tower and Cook. One truck, one invoice, one rep who drives it himself.

Kitchens on the Range know the feeling of being the last stop on somebody else's run — the delivery window nobody else wanted, and a rep who turns up when there is a reason to.

We come at it from Superior, twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays. That is not a huge number of days, and we would not pretend otherwise — what it is, is a fixed number. The same two days every week, on a route that takes in the whole of the Range rather than treating Virginia as the one town worth the drive.

The rest of the Range

Virginia is the biggest stop on the run, not the only one. The same Monday and Thursday routes take in the towns around it.

What comes off the truck

Four groups, thirty-plus brands, one delivery. Nothing is trimmed off the list because of the drive — a Range kitchen orders from the same 6,600 items as one in Superior.

Or search all 6,600 items by name, brand or item number before you call.

Starting an account

Four steps, about a week end to end.

  1. Chris comes out

He is in the area anyway. He walks the kitchen, looks at what you already run, and helps you build a first order around it rather than around a catalog.

  2. Credit application

One page. Fill it in online or print it — it is read in Superior by someone who can say yes.

    Open the application
  3. Your order guide

The items you actually buy, in the order you actually count them, so ordering takes minutes instead of an afternoon.

  4. Monday and Thursday

Order by 4:00 PM the day before and it is on the truck.

Questions we get from Virginia, MN

Do you actually come up the Range, or just to Virginia?

Up the Range. Eveleth, Aurora, Biwabik, Tower and Cook are on the same Monday and Thursday runs. Eveleth is as busy a stop for us as Virginia is.

Two days a week — is that enough?

For most kitchens, yes, once the order guide is set up properly: you order for the stretch between trucks rather than for tomorrow. If two days genuinely will not work for you, say so early and we will tell you straight whether we can do better rather than string you along.

Why would we buy from a company in Wisconsin?

Because the person selling to you drives the Range himself rather than reading about it, and because the decisions about your account get made by people you can get on one phone call. If that is not worth anything to you, we are probably not your supplier.

Two days a week, every week

If your current supplier treats the Range as the end of somebody else's route, it is worth a conversation.
