Food distributor serving Duluth, Minnesota

Four days a week in Duluth, from a warehouse you could drive to in fifteen minutes. Meats, produce, dry goods, kitchen and tableware, paper and disposables, on one truck and one invoice.

Duluth kitchens are not short of options, and that is the point — the question worth asking is not who is cheapest on a case of fries, it is who you are actually dealing with when the week goes sideways.

Here it is one rep who drives the Twin Ports himself and knows what you run — what you swapped out last spring, what your walk-in actually holds, which line you will not compromise on. And if something cannot wait for the next truck, you can put it on a will call and collect it in Superior rather than lose the night.

We have been at it since 1991 — two generations in the building, about 6,600 items on the list, our own trucks. Big enough to be your only supplier, small enough that the person who sells to you is the person who picks up.

And the rest of the head of the lake

The same routes that put us in Duluth four days a week carry on through the towns around it — over the bridge, out to Hermantown and Cloquet, and up the shore.

Out and up the shore

What comes off the truck

Four groups, thirty-plus brands, one delivery. A Duluth kitchen orders from exactly the same list as a Superior one, because it is the same warehouse.

Or search all 6,600 items by name, brand or item number before you call.

Starting an account

Four steps, about a week end to end.

  1. Marty comes out

He is in the area anyway. He walks the kitchen, looks at what you already run, and helps you build a first order around it rather than around a catalog.

  2. Credit application

One page. Fill it in online or print it — it is read in Superior by someone who can say yes.

    Open the application
  3. Your order guide

The items you actually buy, in the order you actually count them, so ordering takes minutes instead of an afternoon.

  4. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

Order by 4:00 PM the day before and it is on the truck.

Questions we get from Duluth, MN

You are a Wisconsin company — do you actually deliver in Minnesota?

Four days a week in Duluth, and further out than that: Hermantown, Cloquet, Two Harbors, and up onto the Iron Range. The state line is a bridge, not a boundary.

How quickly can you fix a missed item?

Call your rep and you will get a straight answer the same day — usually it goes on the next truck, and when it cannot wait you can pick it up in Superior as a will call. What you will not get is a ticket number and a wait to find out who owns the problem.

We are a small place. Are we too small for you?

The order minimum is $200 and it is set low deliberately. A good share of what we deliver goes to kitchens that would be a rounding error to a national distributor.

Can we buy from you and keep our existing supplier?

Plenty of kitchens do. Start with one category — produce, or paper — and see how the deliveries go. We would rather earn the rest of it than have it written into an agreement.

Talk to the person who would handle your account

Not a regional office, not a queue. Call and we will have a rep out to walk your kitchen this week.
